Child Aid's mission is development through literacy.  We help children in Central America improve their lives through education. We believe that the ability to read is both personally empowering and essential to a child’s ability to imagine, pursue and realize a better life. Our integrated, 4-year program in Guatemala provides teacher training, library development and the donation of thousands of Spanish language books.

In 2014, we worked with almost 400 primary school teachers and 60 librarians; we distributed over 100,000 Spanish language books and helped create 15 new school libraries.  By 2013, over 22,000 teachers are being taught by Child Aid trained teachers each year.

We currently have a staff of 18 in Guatemala, all but 3 of whom are Guatemala nationals.  Our current goal is to expand both the scale and the impact of our work.
