Living Goods works to reinvent how we improve the lives of the under-served. We think big, but operate small and nimble. We train community health workers to bring life-saving products and healthcare to people’s doorsteps.   Products like medicines, fortified foods, and modern contraceptives.

We also transform community health through mobile phones.   We teach community health workers how to assess maternal and child health and treat common illnesses like pneumonia, malaria, malnutrition, and diarrhea. We also develop smart phone apps to guide community health worker visits and create predictive algorithms to make the best use of their time.  And we test new cool tools like paperless referrals to clinics and biosensors to monitor infant and child growth.

The Team

The Communications & Advocacy teams raise Living Goods’ visibility and voice. We tell stories about Living Goods through multiple media. Raise awareness of Living Goods among local governments, international donors, and non-governmental organizations.  Share our impact and shape policy.  Advocate for community health worldwide.

Your Charge

You will help Living Goods both communicate and advocate.  You will write, create, and organize both out front and behind the scenes.

Promote us.  Draft Living Goods communication & advocacy materials, such as fact sheets, Power Point presentations, brochures, and blog posts.

Engage through events· Attend global health coalition meetings and other forums and events to promote community health.  Help plan Living Goods events and policy forums. Track and maintain a calendar of external engagement opportunities and contacts, and assist in meeting and conference planning and preparation

Support our social media.  You will help develop Living Goods’ social media strategy and craft and manage content.  You will also keep our website accurate and up to date.  You will also evaluate our social media presence and website and e-mail analytics and recommend improvements.

Monitor print & other media.  Track US and international media coverage for stories about Living Goods and community health.

Your background

  • Communications chops.  3+ years experience in communications, international development, or global health experience.  BA or BS degree required.  Masters degree in communications, public health or international development preferred
  • Research and writing skills.  You can find answers to questions and write simply about complex topics.
  • Web & computer savvy.  Experience with InDesign and PhotoShop a plus · Familiarity with a content management system like WordPress or Drupal· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills.  People can rely on you because you are good at keeping calendars and timelines.  You keep a tight ship and up to date to-do lists.
  • Event planning experience.  You have a record planning meetings and events.  You like to get the details right.
