COORDINATOR of Faith and Positive Change for Children initiative

 

 

The World Conference of Religions for Peace (Religions for Peace) is the world’s largest international multi-religious organization with over 90 national chapters and affiliates (Inter-Religious Councils/IRCs) in over 100 countries. Founded in 1970, it is dedicated to multi-religious advocacy and practical actions around peace and security, development and human rights.

 

In 2018, UNICEF, Religions for Peace and Joint Learning Initiative on Local Faith Communities (JLI) came together to form a global partnership, Faith and Positive Change for Children, Families and Communities (FPCC). The central aim of the partnership is to support positive social and behaviour change with and for children, parents and communities with specific emphasis on going beyond simply delivering messages, to engaging faith communities in self-reflection, dialogue, exchange and feedback in order to achieve real and lasting positive change on jointly agreed priorities affecting children and their families.

 

The Coordinator of Faith and Positive Change for Children Initiative is required to provide coordination support for the effective roll-out of joint partnership activities planned for engagement, collaboration and capacity development of religious actors for children, families and communities, particularly in the wake of global COVID-19

 

The Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Programmes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordination and Capacity Building with Partners
    • Support liaison and communication amongst the FPCC partners at the global, regional and national levels.
    • Promote and support establishment of country level Multi-Religious Faith Action Committees for Children (MFACCs).
    • Coordinate various capacity building programmes and roll out of specific strategies related to the engagement of the Religions for Peace Women-of-Faith networks and Youth Inter-Religious Councils.
    • Support coordination for the generation, development of tools, data collection and analysis on perceptions, attitudes, beliefs and practices of different faith constituencies.
    • Support oversight of the Monitoring and Evaluation Framework and reporting
  • Media, Digitaland Social Media Engagement
    • In coordination with Religions for Peace’s Communication team to support media outreach, website update, upload content for social media and provide inputs to amplify the FPCC-related work done by religious leaders and faith organizations through various media, social media and digital platforms internal and external.
    • Support the further development of the digital engagement strategy and capacity development of IRCs in the use of digital/mobile to advance the work of FPCC.
  • Resource Mobilization
    • In collaboration with UNICEF, support finalization and costings for FPCC funding proposal and support joint resource mobilization efforts for FPCC.
  • Others
    • Contribute to Religions for Peace’s other intersecting initiatives.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • A graduate degree in social sciences.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in any NGO, CSO, government agency involved in social work, preferably with experience in engaging with religious leaders and faith communities.
    • Background/familiarity with development issues especially public health and COVID-19
    • Experience in organizing advocacy/media events
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing skills and coordination between multiple partners
  • Ability to work collaboratively, under tight timelines and pressure and effectively multi-task on several assignments.
  • Fluency in English with proficiency of other languages being a plus.
