Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Deputy CFO is responsible for recommending, implementing, and managing financial and accounting systems that are adaptive to different business models and revenue sources. S/he will guide and support organizational and country objectives, while strengthening the overall financial, internal control, and infrastructure policies and systems. S/he is responsible for IntraHealth’s global finance and accounting operations.



  • Manage IntraHealth’s financial and accounting function to ensure the highest standards of internal and management controls in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, FASB and related USAID and OMB circulars and regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with IntraHealth’s external audit firm, ensuring timely and accurate completion, filings and follow-up; as well as, process integrity, oversight and adjustments as needed. S/he will lead and make recommendations to the competitive procurement process for external firm selection pursuant to IntraHealth policy.
  • Partner with IntraHealth staff at all levels to develop agile systems that support a diverse and dynamic portfolio responsive to applicable regulatory standards and rules; country regulations including financial, tax, labor, etc. while fostering an environment of 100% compliance.
  • Model the highest standard of stewardship for IntraHealth worldwide, ensuring that organizational resources are appropriately allocated and deployed.
  • Recommend and maintain corporate finance and accounting policies aligned with dynamic industry best practices to ensure compliance as they relate to USAID and other donor’s rules and regulations. Provide oversight to headquarters and country office leadership for their implementation in conjunction with the Director of Compliance.
  • Support the development and implementation of long-term strategies for finance and administration function and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission, strategy, and priorities, including the development and application of new business models.
  • Supervise, lead, and mentor the Finance and Accounting team including the Director of Accounting and the global Finance Business partners.
  • Ensure the Finance and Accounting team has the tools and resources to partner effectively across all other areas of IntraHealth including succession planning, goal setting, professional development, performance management, compensation, and recruitment to model results-focused strategies and goals.

Financial Reporting and Control

  • Manage systems and procedures to produce timely, reliable, and comprehensive financial performance reports to the board, the executive leadership team, and the senior management team. The Deputy CFO is responsible for IntraHealth’s rate analyses and reporting, including communication with interested agencies. S/he will track and provide real time and trend analysis of financial data and recommend actions accordingly.
  • Recommend policies and procedures to ensure compliance with donor requirements for financial reporting and control; recommend, document, and oversee the operation of processes to assure the quality of financial reporting and control over the custody and disposition of corporate assets.
  • Recommend and manage a system of financial and operational controls over non-US offices that meets the standards of good financial practices, donor regulations, local and US law; provide technical support for local financial personnel as needed.
  • Recommend and manage highly efficient business systems and the culture required to proactively forecast and control future financial outcomes, including annual budgets, short and long term financial plans and forecasts.

Financial and Asset Management

  • Support relationships with banks and similar financial institutions to provide timely and visible access to funds required for the conduct of the business.
  • Manage balance sheet resources and obligations to ensure efficient use of debt and equity capital.
  • Provide support to IntraHealth’s public and private resource mobilization efforts to contribute to long term sustainability.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field and fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, or a Master’s or other advanced degree in business, finance or related field and twelve (12) years relevant work experience; and
  • A minimum of seven (7) years supervisory experience;
  • At least ten (10) years of relevant experience in an international development organization;
  • At least seven (7) years of experience working with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and a robust knowledge base of other donors and foundations, their models and regulations;
  • Fluent in individual and team-based leadership models, and adept at mentoring and leading to high performance in a global and culturally diverse environment;
  • Extensive profit and loss experience both from the revenue and expense side (international finance and accounting experience within developing countries contexts preferred) with solid GAAP and reporting skills coupled with strong analytical, modelling and budgetary experience;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; French and/or Spanish highly desired.


  • Minimum noise levels in an office environment.
  • Position is based in an office, requiring sitting at a desk most of the day.
  • Requires lifting of 0-10 lbs. occasionally or as needed.
  • Some domestic and international travel.
