Description

ABOUT ACTIONAID USA

ActionAid USA (AAUSA) is a member of the global ActionAid federation, whose mission is to advance social justice, poverty eradication, and gender equality across more than 50 countries. We strengthen the capacity, skills, and agency of people living in poverty and exclusion so that they can assert their own rights, hold power to account, and transform the structural causes of inequality and injustice.

Headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, ActionAid was the first international non-profit to root itself in the Global South, alongside the majority of our community partners. Today, we continue to push progressive boundaries. We approach our work through the lens of power and support marginalized groups to reclaim a more equitable balance of rights, resources, and opportunities. As a feminist leadership organization, we believe that women, youth, indigenous peoples, and other excluded groups belong at the forefront of their own movements for change, supported by those who, like ActionAid, stand in solidarity. ActionAid invests in feminist leadership and social justice internally by taking a critical eye to our own power structures, policies, practices, and culture to continuously challenge patriarchy, imperialism, white supremacy, heteronormativity, and all other forms of oppression. In our work and in our office, we strive toward inclusivity, intersectionality, and critical self-reflection.
