Description

InterAction invites all recommendations and applications for the position of President and Chief Executive Officer. The organization is poised for transformative leadership that can meet the moment of today and seeks a leader who can help envision and create what the sector will look like in the decades to come.

InterAction serves as a convener, thought leader, and voice of the U.S. international NGO community working to eliminate extreme poverty, strengthen human rights and citizen participation, safeguard a sustainable planet, promote peace, and ensure dignity for all people. The organization was founded in 1984, and today is the largest alliance of international NGOs and partners in the United States. InterAction mobilizes its Members to think and act collectively to serve the world’s poor and vulnerable, with the shared belief that they can make the world a more peaceful, just, and prosperous place. Collectively, Member organizations manage an estimated $15 billion in programs worldwide, and advocate for policies and solutions that advance the lives of people in the most marginalized positions.

InterAction has a staff of 55 with an office based in Washington, D.C.. Teams provide technical, policy, and advocacy expertise; facilitate coalition building and manage member dynamics; share policy and political guidance; shape policy positions; and publish concept and policy papers.

The new CEO will explore and deliver new ways of operating and engaging stakeholders from across the humanitarian and development community, enabling InterAction and its Members to remain vibrant, relevant and impactful in times of great change. The successful candidate will demonstrate perseverance and the skills required to navigate a turbulent environment and thoughtfully mobilize Member organizations to ensure that underrepresented and marginalized groups have the skills, tools and opportunities to lead on their own development.

This individual will provide inspirational leadership, strategic planning, and management to drive and deepen InterAction’s impact. The CEO will model empathy, humility, and inclusivity to ensure that staff and stakeholders are heard and respected. InterAction’s new leader will foster innovation and welcome thought leaders from all generations to engage.

The successful candidate will be a proven senior executive who is passionate about InterAction’s mission. This individual will value strategic alignment, bring notable intellectual curiosity, a steady presence, and outcome-oriented leadership to advance organizational goals.
