ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION

World Connect is a U.S.-based non-profit organization working to promote locally-led development across the Global South, prioritizing initiatives that empower women and girls. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Program Coordinator will backstop the team on grants administration, data collection, systems development, and project management. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in international development and will share World Connect’s vision for supporting local development actors to lead change. The position requires organization, attention to detail, thinking in systems, and a focus on finding and building efficiencies. The position is based in our New York City office, with occasional travel domestically and internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Improve systems for screening grant applications and unsolicited requests
  • Process grant applications and reporting for all World Connect projects
  • Ensure applicants and grantees receive timely and accurate communication from World Connect, including troubleshooting and support for the online application and reporting system
  • Coordinate World Connect’s team grant review process and manage the applications database
  • Data entry and quality control of shared program files and online project management system
  • Oversee a small portfolio of projects as assigned, cultivating relationships with partners domestically and internationally by providing technical assistance, appreciative inquiry, and ongoing support throughout project implementation
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of relevant literature, articles, events, conferences, and trending news related to World Connect’s projects, countries, and industry space
  • Develop content for the website, annual report, social media, email newsletters, and other materials on an as needed basis
  • Work closely with World Connect’s development, communications, and operations teams to ensure strong internal coordination on global programming
  • Support organization-wide activities, events, and campaigns actively and as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

The Program Coordinator will be mission-driven, team-oriented, and have a can-do approach in supporting the growth of an innovative non-profit organization in a variety of ways. Candidates should possess excellent analytical skills, the ability to write clearly and consistently for a myriad of audiences, excellent time management and interpersonal skills, and a dedication to amplifying the voices of local leaders, especially women, around the world. Key values include consistency, commitment, energy, and positivity.

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least 1-2 years professional and relevant work experience
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work well with culturally and geographically diverse staff and partners
  • Experienced, efficient and organized in online and remote work
  • Ability and energy to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, and ability to learn new technologies and software quickly, including bespoke solutions

DESIRED

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field
  • Fluency in Spanish, French, Portuguese, or Kiswahili
  • Experience in the Global South working alongside and championing local development actors
