Are you a media-savvy strategist who has relationships with thought leaders and influencers, gets the right content in front of the right audience, and has increased a brand’s equity? Do you want to use your public relations skills to help make the world a better place?

GlobalGiving, a top-rated nonprofit on a mission to accelerate community-led change around the world, is looking for a Public Relations Specialist to help raise awareness of our brand in key markets. You should share our excitement for supporting local organizations in 170+ countries that educate children, feed the hungry, preserve the environment, build houses, train people with job skills, and do hundreds of other amazing things.

GlobalGiving was awarded the 2016 When Work Works Award by the Families and Work Institute. We have a casual open office environment where everyone's opinion and ideas are valued—and a remote work plan to keep our team safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. We're committed to work-life balance and offer everyone opportunities to learn, experiment, and grow. Since creative, enthusiastic employees are our most valued resource and the basis for our success, we take great care in how we attract, hire, and support our team. If you're passionate about collaboration, curiosity, communication excellence, and continuous improvement, this position is right for you.

Primary Responsibilities:

We are looking for an experienced public relations professional to lead our brand equity and visibility strategy. You will be responsible for developing a strategy to increase our earned media citations, and in doing so, increase traffic to our site, improve our conversion rates, and help GlobalGiving develop more sustainable, meaningful, and lasting relationships with a network of influencers, affiliates, and brand advocates that you will identify and cultivate. You will work closely with people across the organization to develop goals, strategies, tactics, and key messages that position GlobalGiving as a thought leader among its peers and constituents. This will require you to understand our core differentiators, be able to talk about our innovative products and solutions, and to develop compelling reports, talking points, narratives, and special events that elevate the GlobalGiving brand among target audiences.

To do this well, you will need to understand who our targets are and how to motivate them. Using audience insights and media monitoring and business intelligence software, you will learn what works, and launch content distribution and audience engagement tactics that drive results. Needless to say, this role requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, project management skills, and a global perspective.

The Public Relations Specialist reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The specialist also works closely with our disaster recovery and business development teams, as well as our CEO, to develop and iteratively improve our public relations strategy and raise GlobalGiving’s visibility.

  • Demonstrated excellence in acting as an organizational spokesperson, crafting press outreach that works, and existing relationships with media and influencers
  • Demonstrated experience with media monitoring and business intelligence software
  • Excellent public speaking skills, and the ability to represent GlobalGiving professionally on camera, on the phone, and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit
  • Passion for advancing GlobalGiving's voice and brand across a variety of media
