Department and Position Summary

Social is our mission in motion! The Web Team in the Marketing and Communications Department serves a global constituency externally and internally including donors and a growing community who are at various levels of engagement with the mission of Americares. The Senior Associate role is an opportunity to help build and be part of our community.

The Web Team, driven by H2H, human-to-human fueled marketing, designs, builds and maintains several digital marketing channels including multiple inclusive and accessible web sites, communities and applications, along with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, Vimeo and YouTube). The team collectively creates, develops, builds, publishes and manages content for each platform while engaging with the community.

Our Senior Social Media and Digital Marketing Associate is an opportunity to join us in building our social media communities inclusive of goal setting, planning, campaign management, execution and monitoring.

The Associate must be passionate about creating authentic guest experiences and journeys that capture attention, offer engagement, build trust, secure loyalty, while continuously attracting and acquiring new Americares supporters.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Social Media Strategy, our Senior Associate will be directly involved in the daily creation, monitoring and publication of content for social platforms and our primary website, americares.org.

Responsibilities:

The Social Media and Digital Marketing Associate will primarily support the Associate Director of Social Media Strategy:

  • Developing and maintaining social media calendars.
  • Develop content for social channels (primarily Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) with particular emphasis on media releases, unfolding emergencies, and overall media tracking for relevant content.
  • Scheduling content for primary channels.
  • Help manage tracking analytics and various documents to support social media efforts
  • Regular participant in the online conversation (particularly Instagram, Facebook)
  • Monitoring social media data.
  • As a web team member, collaborate in creative brainstorms and problem-solving sessions as we share and develop ideas.
  • Ongoing consideration of and summary reports on new tools, apps and enhancements for current channels.
  • Ongoing research and report exploring other channels and platforms to assess their potential value to Americares.
  • Ongoing marketing, trend and competitive analysis research.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to building inclusive and welcoming communities.
  • Recent college graduate or graduate student interested in nonprofit international humanitarian marketing.
  • Record of academic achievement and digital savviness with seriousness of purpose.
  • Depth and breadth of social media applied knowledge with a deep desire to grow within the industry.
  • Experience with social media channels with extensive experience building a brand’s presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; nonprofit building preferred..
  • Growth-and-creative mindset, self-starter and disrupter—ability to work independently, meet deadlines and confident risk-taking.
  • Team orientation—balanced focus on personal accountability and team goals.
  • Prior office/administrative or remote work experience strongly preferred.
  • Career interest in global health, nonprofit marketing, international development, emergency response and/or international affairs.
