Description

Begin a rewarding career with the International Division of Medical Care Development, Inc., (MCD). MCD was founded in 1966 as an US‐based not‐for‐profit established to assist the State of Maine to bring higher quality health care to its rural population. It now operates in more than ten states. In 1977 an international division, Medical Care Development International (MCDI), was founded with the belief that MCD’s successful approach to health systems development in the rural United States could be adapted to meet the needs of developing nations.  A global non‐profit organization, MCDI uses practical, evidence‐based and high‐impact approaches to strengthen health systems in developing countries and to improve the health of vulnerable populations overseas through integrated, sustainable and locally‐driven interventions. MCDI has implemented public health programs in over 40 countries aimed at targeting the world’s most vulnerable populations. MCDI collaborates with donors, national governments, the private sector, health agencies, communities and local stakeholders to improve health and save lives in the following areas: water, sanitation and hygiene; malaria control; maternal, neonatal and child health; tuberculosis; HIV/AIDS; and other communicable diseases.

We are seeking a full-time Senior Technical Lead (Deputy Director), based in the US, to provide technical support and oversee our technical, business development, and program teams.  The Senior Technical Lead is a highly qualified and experienced international public health professional with expertise, a published record, and proven experience in technical proposal writing in one or more priority program areas where MCDI competes (e.g. Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Sanitation and Hygiene, Health Sector Strengthening, Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement). Reporting to the Division Director, this is a senior level leadership position that is responsible for supporting, advising, and guiding multiple teams to ensure that they are aware of the latest knowledge and employing current best practices in their program areas, and are instituting quality review and quality improvement processes.

This is a new position and an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing international organization.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in international health, public health, or related field required. PhD international health, public health, preferred
  • At least 10 years of related work experience serving as a technical writer for business development and providing technical assistance to health programs overseas
  • Experience in preparing health proposals and designing technical interventions for USAID and other donors.
  • A published record in peer-reviewed journals in one or more of the program areas in which MCDI competes and/or in one or more global health competency areas.
  • Experience presenting at international conferences.
  • Level 5 R/S proficiency in English. Preferred at least Level 4 R/S proficiency in other relevant language (French or Spanish).
