Role Overview
Vice President, Technical Leadership and Innovations (VP-TLI) is a top leadership position, leading a multi-disciplinary team of more than 70 staff focused on driving impact in a number of technical core areas: HIV/AIDS, Malaria, MNCH, reproductive health and family planning and in the following critical emerging areas: non-communicable diseases, women’s cancers including cervical cancer and breast health, primary health care, self-care, safe surgery, and immunizations. The VP-TLI is responsible for working across technical and country teams to prepare Jhpiego for transformational innovations to address local problems and priorities including cross cutting themes such as capacity building, technology, gender, policy, advocacy, health system strengthening, human resources development, actionable data and learning. Serving as a member of the Leadership Team and working effectively with our staff, the VP-TLI continuously improves the culture of quality and innovation across Jhpiego and supports teams to deeply analyze their problems and identify disruptive solutions including new business models, policy breakthroughs, novel service delivery models and new products.
We are seeking an experienced, inspiring and innovative leader and manager for this role. With responsibility for a dynamic team of technical leaders, the successful candidate will be tasked with providing “best in class” technical support, responsive to country needs, and in pursuit of impact. The VP will bring to bear 20+ plus years of progressively responsible experience in international health, especially in technical and programmatic leadership and innovation; an advanced degree in medicine, public health, management, or business; a proven track record of success in shaping global policy and Global Health agendas; experience of generating grants, awards, and funding for Jhpiego’s core areas; time spent working in countries in Sub Saharan Africa or Asia; strong donor engagement with USAID, foundations and private sector. Finally, we are seeking someone with a healthy disregard for the impossible and interest in promoting blue sky thinking.
