The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking an experienced Project Management Unit (PMU) Officer to work directly with CIP Leaders and help them to execute worldwide projects and ensure the delivered on-time, within the applicable scope and budget.

About the role:
This position will be based in New Delhi, India and report to the Head of Project Management Unit (Located in Nairobi, Kenya). This position will also assist in ensuring that project staff follow CIP policies and procedures while adhering to donor rules and regulations to ensure projects are successful. Experience working in international development projects, agriculture development projects and/or agriculture research projects is essential. Experience managing international and/or Government of India funding for projects is essential. Strong financial skills, planning and monitoring of workplans is essential. The job requires travel to field sites

Key responsibilities:

• Ensures sound strategic management of financial, human resources and procurement operations in compliance with CIP Rules and Regulations as well as managing specific donor requirements
• Supports the delivery by the project team, of effective programmatic implementation and conducts quality assurance activities;
• Provides effective operational oversight and implements oversight activities;
• Facilitates knowledge building and management.
• Serve as primary point of contact for project operations during and after the life of the project;
• Deliver and maintain professional working relationships with internal clients and other project partners and ensure resource availability and allocation.
• Constant monitoring and analysis of the operating environment, timely readjustment of the operations, and proactively highlight issues to Project Project Leaders and provide advice and risk assessments and mitigation efforts
• Analyze and monitor financial resource status and keep management informed for timely actions and decisions to ensure optimum utilization of project resources.
• Follow up on adherence issues for contractual requirements to ensure required actions are taken within established timelines and that recording errors or reversals, contractual adjustments, workplan adjustments are identified and communicated to the relevant operational unit for appropriate adjustments to be made.
• Working closely with the Asia Regional Controller, follow up and/or take prompt action to respond to audit and other findings including recommending improvements in policies, procedures and practices, as required.
• Organize and maintain shared knowledge ports (KM Hub, websites) to communicate relevant project information throughout the organization.
• Liaise with donors and customers to exchange necessary project information.

What we are looking for?

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Financial Management or related field. Master’s degree in Development, Administration and/or Project Management, will be desirable.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
• Experience working with international donors is essential.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially in Excel.
• Advanced Knowledge in software solutions (ERP)
• Proficiency in project management software tools.
• Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi.
• Recognized as results-oriented team player who is adaptable to changing business needs and capable of contributing to the team’s success effectiveness.
