Head of Programme Finance
Description
The Head of Programme Finance leads the Finance Partner and Finance Specialist teams, including the technical line management of ICP finance staff, and is responsible for leading direct financial support and oversight to country programmes. The role ensures effective financial planning, oversight, resource management, fundraising support, and ICP financial reporting, thereby strengthening programme delivery.
Project Overview
The Medair GSO Finance Department, is primarily focused on Medair financial and investment decisions, acts as a financial gatekeeper and strategic advisor in daily business operation and also mid to long-term strategic decisions of Medair, with streamlined and optimized key processes, via leveraging a fit-for-purpose finance system.
Workplace & Conditions
Global Support Office (GSO) position based in Lausanne, Switzerland, Swiss or eligible EU citizens, or those with a valid work permit for Switzerland.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the financial forecasting, monitoring, reporting and oversight of country programmes including related assets and obligations at GSO headquarters
- Leads the financial support provided to develop fundraising strategies including the writing of proposals
- Manages the Finance Partner and Finance Specialist teams and ensures robust technical line management of Finance staff in International Country Programs
- Leads and strengthens collaboration with the corporate finance team as well international programmes at GSO headquarters
- Drives the ongoing development of financial management systems and processes including leading the finance working group
- Builds the capacity of Finance Partners, Finance Specialists, and country finance staff through technical guidance, coaching, and the development of consistent financial management practices.
Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies
- University degree
- 10+ years’ experience working in finance and programme delivery for an NGO and/or large complex organisation
- Working level of English and French
- Proven skills in team management, stakeholder management, financial planning and monitoring, complex financial analysis and reporting, and improving financial management systems and processes
- High computer literacy, Microsoft Office (Excel)
