Surgicorps International (www.surgicorps.org) is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization dedicated to providing free surgical and medical care to individuals in need around the world. Surgicorps offers a large scope of service despite its small size. The organization provides an unique continuity of care with multi-year country commitments and takes pride in the quality of its service and volunteer experience.

Surgicorps personalizes its approach to different countries. A needs assessment shapes the medical team and medical volunteers are prepared to evaluate a variety of conditions and situations as they arise during screening. The goal is to serve as many as possible without limitations to one type of surgery or surgical specialty. In its 23rd year of service, Surgicorps has completed more than 5,000 surgeries on 85 missions in 21 countries. Surgicorps International has built a strong reputation for surgical outcomes, general patient care and volunteer experience since its founding in 1994. Looking ahead to its 30th anniversary in 2024, the organization aspires to achieve significant mission success including but not limited to: 1) increasing annual trips to a minimum of 6 or maximum of 8 by 2019; 2) augmenting its service “footprint” in existing countries with services like vision and dental screening; 3) building capacity to complete one trip per month by 2024; 4) expanding the Exploratory Program; 5) increasing the use of technology; and 6) enhancing sustainability by recruiting and training the next generation of staff leadership.
