Description

JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) is a public health management consulting and research organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world. JSI manages the USAID-funded MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity project. The project is working in 18 countries with the overarching goal of strengthening routine immunization (RI) programs to overcome the entrenched obstacles contributing to stagnating and declining immunization rates and barriers to reaching zero-dose and under-immunized children with life-saving vaccines. The project works with countries to implement COVID-19 vaccination, including supporting strategies to reach hard-to-reach and priority populations. The project also provides country, regional, and global technical support for routine immunization of children and older populations.

A significant component of MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity project’s work involves working with USAID Missions to implement programs and technical assistance to help countries strengthen their immunization programs. JSI is seeking a French speaking communications specialist to join the project and provide leadership and support in strengthening communications, marketing, and branding efforts for its francophone country program offices. This position will report to the KM and Communications lead on the project, and will work closely with the Country Program Director, Country Program Managers, and other country staff.

This position will be based in Arlington, VA or any state where JSI is registered (AZ, AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, PA, RI, TN, TX, VT, VA, WA, WDC, WI, and US Virgin Islands) The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 and will be reviewed based on qualifications. RESPONSIBILITIES

Support communications efforts for the francophone country offices including:

Communications Strategy Design and Implementation

  • Support country teams to develop project and country-level communications strategies mapped to strategic plans and/or workplans. Coordinate strategy development process.
  • Work closely with KM and Communications lead, Country Program Director, Country Program Managers, and Country Program Officers to identify and develop communications products to strategically position the project in Benin, DRC, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, and other USAID priority countries as needed.
  • Develop and implement dissemination strategies to promote country program activities online and in country while ensuring consistent messaging and syncing with the home office.
  • Ensure all project-produced public communications and materials are branded correctly according to the USAID| MOMENTUM branding strategy and marking plan.
  • Build the capacity of in-country communications staff and/or points of contact to lead project and country-level
  • communications efforts for the project.
  • Advise project teams on using online platforms (e.g., social media, blogs, other web-based) to reach in-country and global audiences.

Project Management

  • Mobilize and collaborate with the DC-based KM/Communications team, to ensure successful and timely production and dissemination of high-quality country project deliverables. These include success stories, annual reports, technical reports, journal articles, conference abstracts and posters, blogs, print and online newsletters, etc.
  • Help train, promote, and implement the use of the project’s knowledge management systems for all francophone country offices.
  • Support country and project teams to plan and execute project launches, end-of-project conferences, and other in-country events as needed, including local media outreach.
  • Coordinate with JSI’s corporate communications office to ensure that project milestones are communicated on the corporate/global level for increased exposure for the project and the topic area.
  • Work closely with project technical advisors and monitoring, evaluation and learning advisors to ensure that data generated by the project is shared appropriately with stakeholders (e.g., effective data visualization) and used to tell the story of project achievements.

Writing, Editing, and Design

  • Write, edit, and format content for a variety of platforms and audiences, including donors and partners, as requested.
  • Work with the country teams to obtain content on a weekly basis for social media. Then use that content to develop the social media posts for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Ensure frequent posts, consistent messaging, and identify key influencers for tagging.
  • Manage the full production cycle for communications products (print, digital, and audio/visual), including copyediting, layout/design, printing, and strategic dissemination.
  • Support the capacity of home office staff, project staff, and local partners to produce quality written and visual materials; conduct workshops on effective writing, success stories, photography, effective presentations, etc.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master’s degree in communications, international relations, public health or related field
Experience: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience preferred, including experience on USAID and/or USG funded programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes to ensure high-quality products that meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated expertise developing and executing measurable communications strategies
  • Understanding of and experience in drafting content for various social media channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with new technologies and platforms such as Monday.com and Google Suite.
  • Must be a very strong writer and able to synthesize technical material into concise communication pieces and tailor content to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with diverse staff and across multiple teams in a fast-paced, highly-collaborative work environment.

Keen attention to detail, both organizationally and editorially.
Languages: Fluent spoken and written English and French required.
Travel: Willingness to travel if needed.
