Description

Heart to Heart International (HHI) seeks to improve healthcare access in the US and around the world by ensuring quality care is provided equitably in medically under-resourced communities and in disaster situations.

HHI’s Access to Medicine Program supports hundreds of non-profit partner organizations around the world by providing them with medications, medical supplies, and hygiene items. Each year the program distributes more than $200 million dollars of product to hundreds of partners in 30 plus countries and the United States so they can expand their services to their community more effectively and efficiently with quality products.

In addition, the Access to Medicine team works closely with the HHI Resource Development team to ensure strategic planning and reporting to upstream donors, as well as with the Logistics and distribution teams to ensure quality products are provided in a timely fashion and in line with PQMD  guidelines.  Other internal partnerships include Disaster Response, Point of Care Lab Programs and Hygiene Kits teams. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President for Programs.

The Access to Medicine Director is responsible to drive for results in both the quality of partnership and in establishing additional partnerships, through management of this team, delivery against program objectives and contributing to the growth of this program to expand access to quality healthcare both in the US and internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive for Results

  • Oversee all HHI’s Access to Medicine program priorities and projects to meet strategic goals & objectives
  • Mentor and develop team members to advance skill and experience levels, identify gaps in delivery and propose means to address talent development needs
  • Develop and track key performance indicators to ensure highest level of program impact and return on donor investments
  • Engage with the Resource Development and Marketing and Communications teams to strengthen resource partnerships and support fund raising efforts
  • Collaborate with the VP of Resource Development, Director of Corporate Relations, and Chief Medical Officer to expand the quantity and variety of medical gift in kind product received in order to achieve strategic goals of the organization

Operational Excellence

  • Lead the process to establish, review, update, and ensure compliance with relevant HHI standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Contribute to development and roll-out of impact and results monitoring related to downstream partnership and outcomes of distribution on partner organizations (business-to-business results model)
  • Work with HHI Leadership to ensure compliance with HHI product donor contracts
  • Ensure that all departmental reports are completed in a timely manner and in specified format
  • Manage special projects or initiatives, as assigned

Partnerships/ Relationship Building

  • Deepen existing partnerships to understand and anticipate needs. Goal is collaborate with partners to support priorities, and elements to increase partners’ potential to expand access to healthcare through quality product distribution.
  • Review and streamline partner vetting process and reporting requirements and build stronger relationships for long term success
  • Map out partnership strategy and plan for growth of the access to medicine program

Leadership/ Stewardship/ Supervision

  • Represent HHI with professionalism in all dealings internally and externally with partners, contractors, vendors, volunteers, board members, media and anyone connected with HHI business
  • Lead, manage, direct, mentor, develop all current and future direct and indirect HHI team members
  • Attract, recruit, hire, onboard and train new team members as the team grows the current program and human capital resources are needed to support the program and the growth initiatives.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and integrate new perspectives internally and externally with partners at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to lead, manage, motivate and develop a high-performing team
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and time management
  • Demonstrated logistical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience and success in developing strategic approaches to complex operations
  • Ability to establish professional rapport with colleagues and partners working at all levels of an organization
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently, as well as an effective member of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to think critically and creatively
  • Professional proficiency in English required; proficiency in Spanish is an advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with application emphasis in Excel and Access

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, International Studies, Humanitarian Studies or related field from four-year college or university or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven track record of developing and achieving team goals within organizational strategic framework through delegation and human resource assets
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in management with successful team results and proven talent development success. Ability to delegate and drive results through teams and team members
  • At least 5 years of US and/or international non-profit experience or program management experience is preferred or equivalent transferrable experience in project /program management and new business development
