Description

MAB Community Services

Brookline, MA

MAB Community Services (MAB) is one of the oldest social service agencies for blind and visually impaired people in the United States.  Throughout its 120-year history, MAB Community Services has been dedicated to the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in our communities, supporting them to live full, independent, and self-directed lives, espousing the belief that disability rights are in fact civil rights. Throughout its first decades, MAB - an all-volunteer organization - found itself on the cutting edge of what could be considered "the blindness-rights movement." As broad changes evolved in social and political attitudes towards disabilities in general, and blindness, MAB’s Board responded proactively with specialized services, forward-thinking training, and advocacy.

Today, MAB has expanded its scope and works with individuals with a broad range of disabilities including visual impairment, intellectual disability, brain injury, autism spectrum disorders, and behavioral health challenges, in order for them to have agency over their lives. The organization prides itself on being an industry leader and an advocate for disability rights.

With an operating budget of over $50 million and employing over 550 people, MAB has more than quintupled in size over the last 2 decades.  In order to help manage this expansion, MAB has now created the new position of Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance (EVP). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of MAB, the EVP will develop, implement, operate, and maintain the essential operating systems, information needs, and financial business of the organization and will oversee the administrative support departments - Finance, Human Resources, Facilities Management, and IT.  In addition, the EVP will staff the Board of Directors Executive and Finance committees and other Board committees as needed.

MAB is seeking a mission-driven leader with an entrepreneurial spirit, a collaborative management style, and demonstrated leadership skills to implement best practices in these areas; to modernize, automate, unify, and streamline operations; and to help guide MAB into the future.

This full-time position requires a substantial on-site presence at MAB, both at its Brookline, MA location, where the CEO, Advancement, IT, and the Ivy Street School are located and at its Allston, MA location, 15 minutes away, where the Finance, Human Resources and Adult Disability Services (ADS) departments are located.
