Description

The Director of International Programs will manage a team of Program Managers to oversee all country programs and lead on the development of new programs with major funders.

This is a 12 month maternity leave contract with the possibility of extension.

While the position is remote, the successful candidate will be based in the Washington, DC area.

Job Responsibility #1:  Program Management

 ▪       Oversees Program Managers to ensure projects are delivered on time

▪       Ensures deliverables are met according to project contractual requirements and agreements using results based management

▪       Oversees with the management of contracts, agreements, and relationships with institutional donors

▪       Regularly liaises with the finance department to monitor spend and oversee forecasting of all programs

▪       Oversees all monitoring of programs, including working with data analysts and external partners to collect, clean, and analyze data

▪       Manages the development of timely and accurate donor narrative reports in liaison with other team members and/or external stakeholders and ensures reporting is submitted as per donor requirements
50% of time

 

Job Responsibility #2:  New Business Development

▪       Actively investigates new funding sources to support ongoing and new programming

▪       Leads on the writing and editing of high quality funding applications

▪       Works with the CEO on donor development through involvement in networks and working groups as well as attendance at donor and networking events, as appropriate

▪       Builds relationships with existing and new donors with the goal of securing new funding opportunities

▪       Builds relationships with new implementing partners, as needed

40% of time

 

Job Responsibility #3:  Learning and Knowledge Management

▪       Ensures shared knowledge and learning with in the International Development Department and Big Bad Boo in general by sharing program results and other relevant information

▪       Ensures there is a culture of learning in the company

10% of time

 

Education

  • Masters or post-graduate degree in international development or related field or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum ten years project management experience in the international development and/or humanitarian sectors
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in successful proposal writing with multiple donors including UNICEF, USAID, EU, and others.
  • Knowledge of project management cycles and tools including performance management frameworks

 Skills and knowledge:

  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, work under pressure and manage multiple time-sensitive priorities
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Demonstrable ability to analyze challenges and propose workable solutions.
  • Strong managerial and team building skills
  • Technical skills in child-centered programming and/or international education, an asset
  • Computer proficiency including strong MS Office skills.
