Essential:
· Bachelors degree with no specific area of study; business, economics, management preferred.
· One to three years managerial and networking experience.
· Two to four years experience in retail or similar marketing and merchandising industry.
· Proficiency in email, internet, Microsoft Office and DonorPerfect or related CRM software.
· Financial literacy, including budgeting, or willingness to learn.
· Financial skills needed for budgeting, ability to set goals, organizational competency for planning and implementing actions to meet goals and good communication and relational skills.
· Employment eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the U.S. MCC offers of employment are subject to a successful criminal background check(s).
Preferred:
· MCC Thrift Shop experience.
· Experience working with Board of Directors.
· Experience facilitating trainings.
· Master's degree in relevant field (i.e. Business, Economics, Education, Psychology).

Specific Tasks and Duties:
Relationship Building and Networking for Fundraising Development 75%
Education Training on Best Practices 25%
Relationship building/networking for Fundraising and Development Purposes
- Manage implantation of Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) for each thrift shop. Update MOUs regularly.
- Manage thrift regional budget.
- Work with managers and boards to move shops to greater efficiency and profitability, translating into larger shop contributions to MCC. Provide operations problem-solving support in areas such as: merchandising, marketing, sorting, salvage, product management systems.
- Provide MCC information to existing shops. Support use of signage and literature in shops to connect staff and volunteers with the mission of MCC.
- Encourage use of the MCC Thrift resource website which provides operations, marketing, thrift HR and board governance resources.
- Encourage best practices in personnel and volunteer management, recruitment and recognition. Meet with shop boards to encourage healthy board function and nonprofit best practices. Strategically invest time in shops evidencing good growth potential, thus creating increased fundraising capacity to benefit MCC.
- Facilitate grassroots interest in congregations and groups to open new MCC thrift shop(s).
- Coordinate speaking engagements at shop annual volunteer events.
- Build healthy relationships with shop managers and boards through regular phone calls and emails.
- Visit each East Coast thrift shop regularly.
- Create opportunities to engage with each Thrift Shop’s board.
- Assist shops in networking with one another. Host quarterly meetings with the Thrift shops in the Lancaster County area.
- Participate in MCC East Coast staff meetings.
- Collaborate closely with the MCC U.S. Thrift Shop Development Coordinator and U.S. Regional Thrift Shop Coordinators.
- Participate in regional coordinator meetings. Participate in bi-national (U.S. and Canada) thrift coordinators meetings.
- Attend some relief sales as assigned.
Education/training on best practices:
- Work with the national and regional Thrift coordinators to organize online and in-person networking and training sessions for managers, board members and key volunteers.
- Assist the US Thrift Shop Development Coordinator with planning and facilitating national and bi-national conferences as requested. Increase shop awareness of safety issues and procedures.
- Facilitate MCC Thrift Shop orientation, training and education sessions for thrift shop board members and staff (paid or volunteer) as needed. These may include online or onsite sessions for individual shops or groups of shops
Other duties as assigned on a temporary basis.
Travel expectations: Up to 50% travel with less than 30 nights away per year. Travel is mostly within the East Coast but once or twice a year to other regions in the US. It would be rare, but travel might include Canada.
