Description

Background/ Anera Summary:
Since 1968, Anera has helped refugees and others hurt by conflicts in Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan live with purpose and hope.
Anera, which has no political or religious affiliation, works on the ground with partners in Palestine (West Bank and Gaza), Lebanon and Jordan. We mobilize resources for immediate emergency relief and for sustainable, long-term health, education, and economic development. Our staff serve in their communities, navigating the politics that constrict progress to get help where it’s needed most.
That’s how Anera received more than $171 million in support of programs in 2023 alone, and it’s how
we will keep building better lives until hope finds its way in the Middle East.

Objective of the Internship
The primary objective of this internship is to gain a comprehensive understanding of program and activity implementation beyond service delivery. The intern will develop insight into the types of donor agreements, reporting requirements, and compliance mechanisms required to operate effectively in complex humanitarian and development contexts. The internship will also offer exposure to operational challenges in multi-country programs and the strategies used to identify and implement effective, compliant solutions.
The internship will also provide practical experience in copy editing and reporting, enabling the intern to contribute to high-quality documentation and donor-ready reporting materials.

Scope of Internship
The intern will work closely with the Grants and Compliance team as well as program implementation teams to:
• Support the development and refinement of internal trackers, process maps, and tools to enhance program implementation efficiency.
• Engage with country teams to understand field-level implementation challenges and support the identification of practical solutions that align with donor agreements and compliance obligations.
• Assist in mapping key implementation processes and identifying gaps or inefficiencies in existing workflows.
• Contributes to the design and development of tools and systems to improve reporting, tracking, and communication across teams.

• Provide copy editing support for Funder reports, internal documents, and process guidance materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational standards.
• Assist in preparing narrative sections of grant reports, synthesizing field inputs, and ensuring completeness and compliance with donor requirements.
• Support documentation of lessons learned and best practices in activity implementation and grant compliance.
• Support the tracking of reporting requirements

Key Deliverables
• Tracker templates to support program activity monitoring and funder reporting.
• Drafted or updated process maps of critical implementation workflows (e.g., subgrant management, gift management, production donations coordination).
• Contributed content and copy-edited reports and guidance materials for use by field and HQ teams.
• End-of-internship presentation/report summarizing key learnings, contributions, and recommendations.

Timeframe and Reporting
• Duration: 3–6 months
• Time Commitment: Pending availability of best candidate
• Reporting Line: The intern will report directly to the International Grants Director, with regular coordination with the country teams.
• Performance Review: Mid-point and end-of-internship reviews will be conducted to assess progress and provide feedback.

Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a degree program in International Development, Public Administration, Political Science, Humanitarian Affairs, or a related field.
• Strong interest in grants management, program implementation, and compliance within the humanitarian or international development sector.
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills; familiarity with professional writing standards and formatting guidelines for donor or organizational reports.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it clearly.
• Previous internship or volunteer experience with NGOs, donor agencies, or international institutions (preferred but not required).
