JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), a leading public health research and consulting organization, is seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in HIV and other infectious diseases (HIV-ID), in particular sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and viral hepatitis, for a Consultant role in our Boston MA, Atlanta GA, or Washington D.C. offices. The Consultant will contribute technical expertise to national, state, and local U.S. projects focused on HIV-ID prevention, care, and treatment; service delivery; intersections with other areas of public health, such as substance use and harm reduction; and reducing disparities in HIV-ID health outcomes. The ideal candidate will be a flexible and enthusiastic individual with a desire to support JSI’s mission of promoting and improving health for all, with a focus on U.S. communities with unequal access to health-related resources. Candidates should have an understanding of the impact of racial and other disparities on HIV-ID transmission and treatment outcomes.
The Consultant will contribute to projects across JSI’s HIV-ID portfolio of work in technical assistance and training, capacity building, strategic planning, research, program evaluation, and health communications. In the first year, the Consultant will support various projects, which may include providing technical assistance to health departments, community-based organizations, and local HIV planning groups; identifying best practices in Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program settings; supporting the disease intervention workforce; or expanding HIV prevention and care efforts within community health centers.

Salary: $71,500-$96,000, depending on education and years of experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
A successful JSI Consultant is a creative problem solver, able to quickly pivot in changing environments, and committed to advancing racially equitable approaches to improving health systems. The Consultant role is varied and diverse, and may require the individual to grow their skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- Project coordination/management: Participate as a team member on one or more national, state, or local projects. Coordinate and/or manage select project activities, including work plans, budget monitoring, staffing, and reporting.
- Development of project deliverables: Serve as subject matter expert and/or fill technical roles on multiple projects. Working as a key member of a collaborative team, develop project deliverables, such as webinars, online training modules, infographics, tools, and reports; and organize in-person and web-based convenings and presentations.
- Facilitation: Coordinate and facilitate engaging meetings with clients, funders, and partners. Develop productive partnerships with other collaborating organizations, grantees, and community members. Plan and implement activities to foster relationship-building.
- Qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis: Apply analytic thinking and creativity to the collection and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data. Provide input on evaluation and assessment tools and contribute to the development of summary reports.
- Business development: Actively contribute to the strategic growth and diversification of the HIV-ID portfolio through proposal writing, strategy development, and participation in internal work groups focused on business development, partnership development, project promotion, and individual professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
- Masters degree in public health or a related field with at least 3 years of U.S.-based public health experience following completion of advanced degree. Candidates with at least 7 years of relevant professional experience following completion of an undergraduate degree will also be considered.
- Experience working with or supporting national, state, or local HIV-ID disease programs and initiatives.
- Understanding of national and regional HIV-ID priorities including efforts to address the social determinants of health, federal HIV-ID policy and initiatives (e.g, Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S., National HIV/AIDS Strategy), biomedical HIV prevention, and the intersection of service delivery systems (e.g., primary care, substance use, behavioral health).
- Commitment to advancing health and racial equity.
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation, provision of technical assistance, training, and curriculum and materials development.
- Demonstrated skills in project coordination/management, including establishing project work plans, processes, and protocols; monitoring budgets; managing timelines; managing staff; supporting cross-functional teams; and developing internal relationships through effective communication.
- Track record working independently and in teams.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and across various project teams.
- Strong communications skills including oral and written presentations of complex topics to a wide array of audience types (e.g., program staff, organizational leadership, community stakeholders, clients).
PREFERRED
- Local or state health department, health center, or community-based organization experience.
- HIV planning group experience
- Experience conducting needs assessments, mixed-method program evaluation, qualitative research (focus groups, interviews), and/or quantitative research (surveys, statistical analysis).
- Proficiency in languages other than English.
This position has an annual salary range of $71,500-$96,000, depending on education and years of experience. JSI offers competitive benefits including health insurance, dental, vision, and a 401k with a company match.
