Description

JSI is seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in HIV, viral hepatitis, STIs, and other infectious diseases (HIV-ID) for a Senior Consultant role in our U.S. Health Services Division. The HIV-ID Senior Consultant will contribute technical expertise to national, state, and local projects focused on HIV-ID prevention, care, and treatment; service delivery, including through telehealth; intersections with other areas of public health, such as substance use, harm reduction, housing, and aging; and reducing disparities in HIV-ID health outcomes. The ideal candidate will be a flexible and enthusiastic individual with a desire to support JSI’s mission of promoting and improving health for all, with a focus on communities in the U.S. with unequal access to health-related resources. Candidates should have an understanding of the impact of racial and other disparities on HIV-ID outcomes.
The Senior Consultant will support projects across JSI’s U.S. HIV-ID portfolio of work in technical assistance and training, capacity building, systems strengthening, strategic planning, research and program evaluation, and health communications. Specific topics for immediate focus may include, but are not limited to: maximizing the use of telehealth strategies for HIV care in the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program; providing technical assistance to high volume hospitals focused on hepatitis C testing and treatment policies and workflows; supporting jurisdictional efforts to integrate HIV prevention and care; and developing training and technical assistance for the STI workforce.
The ideal candidate will join JSI’s Boston MA, Atlanta GA, or Washington D.C. offices. Other JSI office locations or remote employment will be considered, but candidates must reside in a state where JSI is currently registered to do business (AR, AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, LA, MA, ME, MD, MI, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NY, PA, RI, TN, TX, USVI, VA, VT, WA, WI). Preference for candidates willing and able to work Eastern and Central time zone work hours.

Salary: $88,000 - $127,000, depending on education and years of experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
- A successful Senior Consultant is a leader and technical expert, able to employ varying leadership qualities to meet the needs of different settings and teams both internally and externally, and maintains a commitment to advancing racially diverse, equitable, and inclusive approaches to improving health systems.
- Provide leadership for project design, development, implementation, evaluation, and promotion, including as a project director/principal investigator or senior technical lead.
- Oversee and contribute technical expertise for the development of project deliverables and implementation of project activities, including needs assessments, technical assistance, training tools and job aids, evaluation of program performance, quality improvement approaches, reports, webinars, learning collaboratives, presentations, and online courses.
- Facilitate engagement of diverse partners and community members during project implementation, including federal, state, and local funders, national partner organizations, health departments, community-based organizations, planning groups, HIV/STI clinics, and community health centers, among others.
- Provide strategic thought leadership for the growth and diversification of JSI’s HIV-ID portfolio by contributing to business development efforts, relationship building, proposal writing, external positioning, and internal capacity development.
- Promote the application of best practices within JSI by sharing knowledge and information with colleagues and mentoring or supervising staff.
- Represent JSI externally through strategic partnerships, networking, publications, and conference presentations.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
- Graduate degree in public health or related field, with at least 10 years of U.S.-based public health experience following completion of an advanced degree. Candidates with at least 13 years of relevant experience following completion of an undergraduate degree will also be considered.
- Well-developed skills in leadership, project development, and project management, including establishing processes and protocols, managing timelines and budgets, leading and supporting cross-functional teams, and developing relationships through effective communication with internal and external partners.
- Experience managing, motivating, and organizing teams to support technical capacity development and produce high quality work.
- Experience in group facilitation, training, coaching, and provision of technical assistance, curriculum and materials development, research, data analysis, evaluation, and/or quality improvement.
- Understanding of HIV-ID priorities in the U.S., such as advancing syndemic and status neutral approaches, ending the HIV epidemic, eliminating viral hepatitis, reducing STIs, and addressing the issues that drive racial, gender, economic, and other disparities in HIV-ID outcomes.
- Experience working with communities that are disproportionately affected by HIV, STIs, viral hepatitis, and other infectious diseases, and incorporating diverse perspectives from people with lived experience into programmatic efforts.
- Commitment to advancing health and racial equity.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to serve as an internal mentor and connector.
PREFERRED
- Experience working in or with local or state health departments, health centers, community-based organizations, and/or planning bodies.
- Experience working in a healthcare delivery setting, including a working knowledge of infectious disease service delivery data, workflows, and policies.
- Experience with HIV-ID new business development, including knowledge of the funding and partner landscape and a proven record writing successful proposals for diverse funders.
- Experience conducting needs assessments, mixed-method program evaluation, qualitative research (focus groups, interviews), and/or quantitative research (surveys, statistical analysis).
- Subject matter expertise in any of the following areas: aging, housing, workforce development, disease intervention, community health centers, rural health, substance use/behavioral health, and/or health care reform/health systems transformation.
- Proficiency in languages other than English.
This position has an annual salary range of $88,000 - $127,000, depending on education and years of experience. JSI offers competitive benefits including health insurance, dental, vision, and a 401k with a company match.
