Trickle UpĀ is a global poverty alleviation nonprofit with a mission to partner with women in extreme poverty to build economic opportunity and drive inclusion. In partnership with governments and local, national, and international organizations, we reach underserved women in remote, rural areas with livelihood programming. Together, we equip women with tools and support as they forge their own resilient pathways out of extreme poverty for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Ā Position OverviewĀ  Ā 

The Vice President, Programs (VP Programs) is a key member of the Trickle Up Senior Management Team and is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership and management of Trickle Up programs globally.Ā  S/he will be a key contributor to the organizational changes that Trickle Up is envisioning for the future as we become a flatter, more global organization. Currently, this position oversees regional programs in the Americas and India and the Global Refugee Affairs Program and ensures the delivery of program quality and MERL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning). The VP of Programs is responsible for empowering and supporting a global program management team to deliver on Trickle Upā€™s programs, ensuring the coordination, sharing of best practices, and providing guidance on organizational performance and accountability. Ā S/he is also responsible for external representation at senior levels including with the Trickle Up Board, external stakeholders, peer organizations, funders, and relevant networks.

The VP Programs manages the three program heads (Americas, Asia, Refugee Affairs), the Director of MERL, and the Senior Program Officer.Ā  S/he is responsible for assuring program quality in line with Trickle Upā€™s mission and strategic framework, standards, and funder expectations and will focus on strengthening an experienced, qualified, and committed team that models Trickle Upā€™s values and ethics and strengthens Trickle Upā€™s position as a leader and key facilitator in the graduation community.Ā  The VP of Programs is the point person for the TU Board Program Committee and works closely with the Program Committee Chair. S/he is a highly experienced development professional with strong strategic, operational management, and representational skills.Ā  S/he is an excellent builder of strong, motivated teams and models the principles of accountability and professionalism across the organization. S/he will report to the CEO and President of Trickle Up and is expected to travel internationally up to 35% of his/her time.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management and Organizational Leadership

  • Lead the execution of Trickle Upā€™s overall programmatic strategy of innovation, scaling, and dissemination.
  • Oversee the planning, development, and reporting of all programmatic activities and operations globally to maximize Trickle Upā€™s impact.
  • Drive continuous improvement in program quality (through the adoption of TUā€™s program quality framework), and support strengthening capacity, operations, and results across Trickle Upā€™s two regional programs (Americas, India) and Global Refugee Program.
  • Empower and support a global program management team to ensure coordination, sharing of best practices, and accountability.
  • Ensure the effective and timely delivery of all program funder requirements, reports, and agreements.
  • Actively participate in the Senior Management Team, providing strategic program and field perspective and contributing to the development and implementation of shared global strategies and priorities.
  • Ensure program operations comply with organizational standards for safety and security, child protection, and the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.

Ā Program Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

  • Oversee the timely implementation of a global MIS system and M&E Frameworks with standardized KPIs for the development and use of data and dashboards by program teams and management (including a board dashboard).
  • Lead the advancement and integration of identified priority thematic areas: digital strategy; climate strategy; and gender transformative approaches into all programs.
  • With program teams, establish organizational research and learning priorities/agenda across the organization to support our scaling partners and contribute to best practices in the graduation/livelihoods community.
  • Facilitate the expansion of potential research opportunities and partnerships relevant to learning priorities and global scaling strategy for the production of high-quality and innovative investigative results.

Ā Development, Fundraising, and Representation

  • Working with Business Development, ensure proposal design, development, planning, and budgeting by program staff to enable timely submission of grants and contract agreements.
  • Identify and participate in key fora, events, and representation opportunities to raise organizational visibility and facilitate networking / strategic engagements with funders and partners.
  • Engage with the TU Board, including Board trips, Board meetings, and one on one communications as appropriate

Ā Qualifications

Ā EducationĀ  Ā 

Minimum of a masterā€™s degree in a related field (social sciences, international development Studies, agricultural economics, etc.), preferably a Ph.D. or equivalent

Experience RequiredĀ  Ā 

  • 15+ years of experience managing NGO operations and programs, in international development or humanitarian operations, including a minimum of 10 years in developing countries.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and empowering a diverse, cross-cultural senior management team with an emphasis on collaboration and accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing strategic partnerships and alliances and serving in a senior representation role.
  • Proven ability to support resource mobilization efforts and a track record of leading teams in strategy development and implementation, delivery of high-quality programs with demonstrated impact and results.

Ā Experience Desired

  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research expertise in managing programs for demonstrated impact.
  • Deep familiarity with the implementation of organization-wide MIS and data systems.
  • Engagement with the Graduation Community of Practice.
  • Strong experience of working in India and/or Mexico

Ā Required skills and competencies

  • Proven competency to mentor, manage and support a team of multi-cultural leaders and facilitate learning and collaboration.
  • Excellent ability to establish and facilitate productive working relationships across diverse units and teams.
  • Ability to manage complex competing priorities and deliver upon commitments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of humanitarian contexts and multi-dimensional aspects of poverty; desired understanding of working with people living with disabilities and inclusion of gender-sensitive approaches in programs.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate Trickle Upā€™s mission, program progress, and achievements.
  • Fluency in English and ability to work proficiently in Spanish

Ā Other requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time including upon occasion to remote locations with basic amenities.
  • FlexibilityĀ to rapidly adjust prioritization of activities to changing contexts and requirements.
